Growing numbers of Cambridge academics advise organisations beyond the University in such spheres as education and training, business and industry, and policy and government - both nationally and internationally. The University sets great store in sharing its knowledge and resources with the general public, and encouraging their participation in educational activities. The University's students and staff annually contribute more than 370,000 human-hours to outreach activities on a voluntary basis. The Cambridge Science Festival, a programme of free activities, is the largest event of its kind in the UK, each year attracting more than 25,000 visitors.
